Garlic Edamame

Edamame pods pick up fragrant garlic oil in a quick pan toss.
Servings and Time
Serves 2-3 as a shared small plate. 5 minutes prep; 8 minutes cooking. Times are approximate; use the doneness checks below.
Ingredients
- 250 g frozen edamame in pods
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- Pinch of chili flakes, optional
Tools Used
Saucepan, strainer, fry pan, and spatula.
Steps
- Boil edamame according to the package instructions and drain well.
- Heat oil and garlic in a fry pan over low heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant; do not burn the garlic.
- Add drained edamame and optional chili. Toss over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Season lightly with salt. Eat the beans and discard the pods.
Serving Notes
Start with less salt if the frozen edamame is already salted.
